Rob and Lowri’s natural warmth and genuine drive to deliver the best possible experience for their guests is infectious.
Quality shines through, and never more so than at Cilsane. A staycation, away from crowds and immersed in nature is good for the soul. Cilsane is an old corn mill, and the proud sense of place in this peaceful gem in the Carmarthenshire countryside is hard to miss and will stay with you forever.
The two glamorous Lodges, Towy and Teilo, set generously far apart, are named after the stunning setting into which they blend seamlessly. Made from local materials and crafted by local tradesmen, then lovingly finished to showcase Rob’s not inconsiderable traditional skills, they are an instantly relaxing space to be in.
Cosy, yes, but so perfectly formed, they have all mod cons, everything locally sourced, right down to the indulgent Myddfai toiletries. Each lodge has its own private wood-fired hot tub overlooking the rolling fields or the bustling duck pond, just crying out for a bottle of chilled bubbles under a canopy of stars. On a long summer’s evening a yarn and a BBQ over the fire pit is the perfect prelude to a glorious night’s sleep to the soundtrack of silence, punctuated only by calling owls and the sound of the stream.
‘Must sees’ include a day exploring world famous Aberglasney gardens, a mooch around the boutiques and independent shops in gorgeous Llandeilo or a “miles from anywhere” walk to Dinefwr Castle, which can be temptingly glimpsed from the hot tub.
Breath-taking countryside surrounds you here. Look out for otters, kingfishers and the daily visitor Charlie the Heron who likes to try his luck in the ford for breakfast. Feed the ducks or collect fresh eggs for breakfast or perhaps ask Lowri to introduce you to Tom, Wales’ most friendly Welsh Cob. Leave your devices behind, switch off and get closer to nature.
